POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPOSITE (WHITE) FILLINGS
Instrucciones Para Despues de un Relleno
Your new composite fillings are fully hardened before you even leave the office; however, it is wise to chew on the opposite side of the newly placed filling(s).
Your gums may be sore for several days. Rinse your mouth three times a day with warm salt water (put a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water, rinse and spit) to reduce pain and swelling.
It is normal to experience some hot, cold and biting sensitivity for 3-4 days after your appointment. It should decrease each day after this period. If it doesn’t, please call our office.
When anesthesia has been used, your lips, teeth, and tongue may be numb for several hours after the appointment. Avoid any chewing until the numbness has completely worn off. It is easy to bite or burn your tongue or lip while numb.
It is recommended that you take some ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil, 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours as needed) before the anesthetic completely wears off. This will help with any swelling or pain at the injection sites where the anesthetic was administered.
One of the most common problems following filling placement with anesthesia is an incorrect bite.

Sus nuevos rellenos han endurecido completamente antes de que usted salga de la oficina; sin embargo, le recomendamos que mastique del lado opuesto en donde fue colocado su nuevo relleno.
Puede ser que sus encias se sientan irritadas por varios dias. Enjuague su boca tres veces al dia con agua tibia y sal para reducir dolor o inflamacion.
Es normal que sienta sensibilidad al calor, frio, o al morder durante 3-4 dias despues de su cita. Deberia de disminuir cada dia despues de este periodo. Si esto no sucede, por favor llame a nuestra oficina.
Cuando anestesia a sido usada, puede que su lengua, labios, y dientes esten entumecidos (dormidos) por varias horas despues de dejar la oficina. Es facil morderse su labio o lengua mientras esta dormido. Evite masticar hasta que el adormecimiento haya desaparecido por completo.
Es recomendable que tome Ibuprofen (Motrin o Advil), 1-2 tabletas cada 4-6 horas como sea necesario antes de que la anestesia desaparesca completamente. Esto ayudara con cualquier inflamacion o dolor en la area en donde la anestesia fue administrada.
Unos de los problemas mas comunes despues de un relleno hecho con anestesia es la mordida incorrecta. Si su mordida no se siente pareja, tiene dolor persistente, o tiene alguna preocupacion o pregunta, por favor llame a nuestra oficina inmediatamente para obtener ayuda.
